The newest kindle is a good example of how higher education is being changed by technology. For us at ACA, the kindle and its use will affect the ways students use libraries.\u00a0 The design of library buildings needs to change from print institutions into a “blended” environments that enable new technology to flourish.<\/p>\n

In the New York Times article, “Amazon Unveils a Large-Screen Kindle Aimed at Textbooks and Newspapers” (Stone, Rich) – state that Amazon is “pitching it as a new way for people to read textbooks, newspapers and documents.”\u00a0 We should recognize that large forces are pushing new ways to read books.<\/p>\n

In “How the E-Book will change the way we read and write<\/a>” – (Johnson, Steve) explains that “Every genuinely revolutionary technology implants some kind of “aha” moment.”\u00a0 He was impressed how the e-reader can access books instantly.\u00a0 He told us how all you need to do is ask and the kindle can access and retrieve a new novel.\u00a0 You don’t even need to go to the book store or library.<\/p>\n

The underlying outcome of the e-book reader and libraries is that people will go to the library, but maybe they will be using technology differently to do their reading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
