For 48 years, our firm has focused exclusively on library planning, programming and design. We work with librarians, educators, architects and civic leaders to develop new innovations. We have deep knowledge in the ways a library functions, providing planning expertise to support service changes. We believe that civic engagement is a key element in the planning process.
We provide a variety of meetings, round tables, interviews and open forums to gain input from the community. We use the Visual Scan, a facilitated tour of the facility, to prioritize the library space needs. We combine this information to deliver a comprehensive assessment of community library space needs, which includes a building program, presentations and conceptual designs.
We have adapted our needs analysis to include digital stakeholder workshops. Our partners include design thinking experts, VR and branding consultants. We use our library planning methodology to develop digital and physical libraries. For both, we examine the existing collections and provide library service options. We use the Visual Scan, a qualitative planning workshop, to understand physical library user needs. Working on a library building project? Below is an example of one of our workshop methods.
