To renovate a library with limited resources, it is essential to understand the basic facility requirements for collections, staff, users, programs, meetings, and social spaces.
This 1-day workshop addresses the changes that must take place so that the library building can provide dynamic support for these endeavors. The day will run from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. During the session, emphasis will be placed upon recycling existing facilities or constructing new ones. We will stress methods to develop welcoming environments that patrons will want to visit and use.
Today’s libraries are at once very active and quiet places. Activities include browsing, electronic access, group-to-group interactions, and individual study and research. Plans to renovate a facility must include cost-effective implementation solutions. Funding approvals are usually based on clear answers to the following questions.
